Usefulness of the Word

Image
Usefulness of the Word I was chatting with my mentee a few days ago and the following conversation occurred: Mentee: ...but sometimes the Bible just look like a storybook especially the old testament. Me: It could be. That's why you need to attend Bible study for explanation of its effect on your life, for example, tell me the last one you read and what you think of it. Mentee:  I read Ecclesiastes. You know vanity upon vanity. Me: Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon and one of it's purpose it's too show the utter fallacy of things that are earthly pursuits and to show that the final conclusion of the whole of life is to fear God, and keep His commandments. See Ecclesiastes 12:13-14. Mentee:  Seriously, I started thinking of all my goals. All are nothing but earthly ambitions. Me: If your goals do not align with God's plan for your life, it will just be struggle all the way. Mentee:  Then how do I know which is God's plan for my life? Its just comp

Key to Successful Living

Image
Key to Successful Living It's key to acquire knowledge. It's a good key to put the knowledge into use, and it's better key to put it into use rightly and at the right time. How will we know the right time? We have depended on experience coupled with knowledge acquired to be able to judge when the time is right. We have also depended on advice to judge the right time. While all these parameters are good, at the end of the day and after so many successes, failures, joy at being right, sadness when at failure, I finally discovered the secret to knowing how to make use of the knowledge and knowing the right timing. I have spent over 25 years on what I call trial and experimentation. Man's life is too short to be spent on experimentation. The worse part is that we spend the time we had the dynamic strength and energy on experimentation and the latter time of subdued strength to realise the lost and try to catch up.  To avoid that waste of time, we need to ha

Love That Overcomes All

Image
Love that Overcomes In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (NIVUK) True love is not sentimental, trying to generate and preserve as many good feelings as possible. The love of God is practical and always achieves His objectives perfectly (the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ is the best example of that): and our love for God is marked by obedience to His commands. God's instructions are not too heavy for us, but they will demand that we rearrange our priorities and re-order our desires. It is God's intention that we should overcome the world, including the spiritual influences which are positively anti-Christ. The method is not through threats or force, but by receiving love from God and loving Him in return wit

God, Our Father of Mercy

Image
God, Our Father of Mercy The Lord God created man with full power as a god with all its inherent attributes. This power and ability is what gave man the supremacy over all creatures and the earth (Gen 1:28). As part of this power is man's ability to give names to everything on the earth (Gen 2:19b-20). This power is still very much ours till date and that is why we give names to our children, animals - including newly discovered species, articles, etc. This is the God-like ability we have as humans. However, with authority comes responsibilities. It is man's responsibility to account for all our actions and even the actions of those under our authority - in law it is called vicarious liability. If it's written in Rom 6:16 - " Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? " Even though God is our God and Master, He, for the love a fath

Every Word of God is Pure

Image
What is Word? This is speech. Word is a narration. What people say. It is a tool by which the inward thought 💭 is expressed. In relation to mind, it is the reasoning power of man - Hebrew 4:12 In respect to person, it is the embodiment of a man's expression of his thought. As humans, everyone of our actions can be expressed in words as well as in other forms like paintings, drawings, etc. Words can be expressed in various formats like poetry, music, etc. A man's action or life therefore is taken by what is expressed in words. As previously said, a man's thought and reasoning and beliefs and actions are exposed in word. The creative act of a man is activated through words. An item or a being is named through the expression of man by his spoken word. The world and everything within it was created with the word of God - the Genesis 1:1-25. This means that word can be used for good and bad. What you say can either serve food or bad to oneself and/or others

The 7 Behaviours: Give To Grow

Image
The 7 Behaviours: Give To Grow During a recent visit to Belfast I was hosting meetings at the Merchant Hotel. All was going well until en route to the bathroom I caught the pocket of my blazer on a door handle and it tore a hole in the cloth! It is my favourite blazer so I was pretty disappointed to say the least. I asked to see the manager to tell them what had happened, not because it was their fault but simply because I was so disappointed. The duty manager returned later and asked if when I got home I would post my blazer back to the hotel (at their expense) so they could have it fixed and then return it to me. A couple of weeks later I was wearing my blazer again at it was looking as good as new. The hotel wasn’t responsible and so didn’t need to fixed my jacket but they did. Sometimes it feels like we are surrounded by people and businesses that are only out for what they can get out of us. What I really dislike about ‘networking’ is the driving motivation to ‘get’. Ha

Positive Relationships Are The Key

Image
Positive Relationships Are The Key  To Business Success In business it's easy to let building good relationships with those around you take a backseat to dealing with the daily aspects of running your business. But not taking care to nurture relationships with your customers, staff, suppliers, and others is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. In business it's easy to burn bridges with people. By "burning bridges" I mean, destroy relationships with your customers, clients, employees, vendors, etc. It's one of the biggest mistakes I see businesses make. And quite frankly, it's a stupid mistake. It's so stupid, I'm willing to admit I was the reigning champ of burning bridges with my clients and friends...and it cost me dearly. There was a time in my life when: I wouldn't return phone calls I wouldn't follow-up with a referral from a client I'd miss an appointment and not call to apologize I wouldn't pay my

God can use anyone for you

Image
God can Use Anyone or Anything for You A professor stood on a stage and challenged God’s existence. He asked God to knock him of the stage in 15 minutes if He does exist. 1 minute to the ultimatum, a back stage staffer who heard the prof’s statement rushed unto the stage and knocked the prof silly off the stage. When asked why he did that, he simply said that God was busy an thus sent him to knock off the prof. What? Because God is God, He has the capacity to use anyone to achieve His aim. He uses the inconsequential to confound the strength of the mighty. He uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. Can you imagine that no matter powerful a person or nation is, their military mighty cannot the power of an invading locust or flies that come in their billions. The lesson in all these is that trust in the Lord and in His promises. Hand over your life and all that is happening in your life, all that is depriving you of peace, your lack, your source of desp

God's Wisdom, Your Relationships

Image
God's Wisdom, Your Relationships God’s Word really does open up to us the mysteries of the universe. It really does make us wiser than we could ever be without it. And yet, having said all this, it's sad that we don’t take more advantage of this wisdom God has given us. It's sad that we don’t think his thoughts after him, that we don’t require ourselves to look at life through the lens of his revelation. It's sad that we swindle ourselves into thinking that we are wiser than we are. We're not irritated by his foolishness, nor are we motivated to seek his help. One of the places you see this most clearly is in the struggles we experience in our relationships. Why have I reminded you of all this? I encounter people everywhere I go who are discouraged and confused about their relationships. I want you to think about your own relationships and look at them through three perspectives derived from biblical wisdom. These mentalities are essential in creating and sus

8 Habits of a Healthy Spiritual Life

Image
8 Habits of a Healthy Spiritual Life Here is the question to ponder today, how hard is it to die when you have so much wealth? Consider this: People who lay up treasures on earth spend their life backing away from their treasures. To them, death is loss. People who lay up treasures in heaven look forward to eternity; they are moving daily toward their treasures. To them, death is gain. Those who spend their life moving away from their treasures have more and more reasons to despair. Those who spend their life moving toward their treasures have more and more reasons to rejoice. Is the passing of time causing you and me to despair or rejoice? God's ownership of everything is the reference point for all of us who serve the Lord. 1 God's Word teaches us eight habits that can keep us spiritually healthy until death. Wouldn't it be great to be in robust spiritual health, looking forward to Heaven? The habits recorded in  Psalms 116  are not just for those who have
