I was too good to know I was not good
I was a well brought kid. Never smoked, never drank, never had a girlfriend, never outspoken, never disobedient, never unruly, studious, etc. If I continue, you will think this is certainly untrue. In fact, there are people better than me, yet, this is very true.
On the other side of the coin, there are those that are exactly the opposite of what I just painted above in every way. Drugs, sexual adventurism, in and out of jail severally, alcoholism, disobedient etc.
I was so good and even so humble and righteous that I never looked down on those that have missed the way. Above all, I knew certainly, that I was going to heaven.
One day, while at work, a girl asked, are you sure you're going to heaven? Of course I said yes. However, I started asking myself if I was sure or not. Through out my life and until then, I was just too good to know I wasn't good at all. That, it is not at all your goodness or the extent of your goodness. Neither is it your badness or the extent of your badness that guarantees your rightness with God. Not at all.
IT IS SIMPLY THE LOVE AND MERCY OF GOD.
Who is then qualified for this love and mercy? What qualifies us for this love and mercy? This question led me to find out that, the love of a father to his child has nothing to do with the state of the child. Same goes for the whole humanity.
The God Almighty in His display and proof of his love for us, his creation, and like a loving father would, decided that he was willing to sacrifice all he had, his life, just to save man.
Do you think you are like me (just perfect) or like the other (so seemingly lost)? Hear this for a fact, he loves neither more or less. The Lord loves both equally perfectly. His love makes him totally oblivious of your goodness or badness because he knew us to be inherently bad from birth. Yet he continues to extend his arms of love to us everyday through his expression of grace and mercy. Do not reject him.
In my quest for assurance of making heaven, I discovered that, this extent of his love, and not my upbringing or goodness or badness, is what guarantees peace in our lives and making heaven. Do not reject him today. He is calling. He is extending his love now.
Just say, God please save me. I'm not worthy to be saved but let your mercy through the death and resurrection of Jesus save me now in Jesus name. Thank you Lord.
And you are cleansed from whatever you think is just too much to forgive. You see, once you believe within your heart that Jesus is Lord and that he died and God raised him from the dead, and then with your mouth you confess that Jesus is Lord, you are instantly saved and made right with God.
